Design-focused Research Group
Research Methods
The proposed research uses constant comparative in and cross-case studies of four design-focused exemplar nations (Finland, Korea, Norway and the UK) and Australia (5 states) to build a comprehensive understanding of the relationships between key success factors in design infrastructure and particular national contexts. The characteristics of successful national design infrastructure building strategies will be identified paying particular attention to country-specific social and economic key national indicators and country-specific data about innovation programs. A self-administered questionnaire survey of Australian design infrastructure stakeholders will be used to identify the most pressing problems stakeholders face due to design infrastructure issues. In short, the research looks to the literature, to the knowledge and experience of key informants in exemplar nations, and to problems identified by Australian stakeholders as the basis for identifying successful implementation strategies.
